As a human, we all choose to take be comfortable. We eat fast food because it takes lots less effort to prepare. We are satisfied with Instagram reels if we can’t afford the hard work to read a book. The simple extract is we always choose comfort. Due to our comfortable nature, we face difficulties in the management of our 24 Hrs. Some people use their time much better than others. Why is that? The reason is so simple. They are disciplined. So, discipline is something that we all need in our life to enhance our productivity. Increased productivity can help you to manage your work better. You can improve your relationships, and hang out with your friends and family.

1. CALENDAR AND ACTIONS

WHY CALENDAR?

Calendars are discovered around 46BC and in the 21st century, we have forgotten the use of the calendar. Of course, we all have a calendar application on our mobile phones. But do you remember the last time you used that app?

I am not telling you the benefits of the calendar. Rather if you are someone who is suffering from a productivity deficit, then I would suggest using a calendar. You can use a physical printed calendar, an in-built calendar on your phone, or some free or paid application from the app store. You can choose whatever you like. Now, you have to understand action. Action is something that you will do. From rising to going to bed and of course in bad, every small thing is an action. So, you need to write down your actions in the calendar.

This may appear as an extra burden. But you know what, if you spend just 30 min. of the day writing this down, this will save a lot of time of yours from wasting. Writing down every action is something that you can consider as a training part when your mind is involved in the work. For most of the day, our mind doesn’t work consciously. It’s the unconscious mind that works. You are just doing work in the flow. When you will decide on the actions and mark them on the calendar you will design the prototype of your day. Making a prototype before execution makes the execution faster.

The simple extract from all this discussion is simple- start using a calendar. It’s a powerful tool. Write down all your actions on the calendar. Adapting this habit may be challenging but it will benefit you in the long run.

TIME BLOCKING

When using the calendar, you divide the time-blocking. Parkinson’s law plays here. When you will get endless time, you will do the work in the maximum possible time. But when there is time boundless, you will try to complete the work as soon as possible with maximum efficiency. You will try to make maximum efforts.

MEMORY IS ALWAYS BAD

A thing that we all are having in common is we try to rely on memory. The bad thing is a lot of times when we strike something great in our mind; we become happy. Then we all leave that thought to be remembered by our brain itself. But our brain forgets that thought. The point is either it’s an idea or it’s any work that you need to complete, write that down. Make sure that you will write it in a prominent and accessible place.

2. TO-DO LIST

What the Hell is this?

A To-do list is like a list of tasks that you have to complete. This list can be maintained as either a physical or a digital one. I would suggest going for some applications rather than a physical one.

You can divide tasks into-

  1. Most Important
  2. Medium Important Task
  3. Least important

Making More Effective

This may not be sufficient until you will add some of the master tricks to it-

  • Make your to-do list daily in the morning. The forecast list will most likely not going to work for anybody. Life will come in place and the time that you invested in making your to-do list was wasted.
  • Highlight the must-do task of the day. It is one of the most powerful strategies that you can use to make your day more productive.
  • You can place the worst work of the day in the morning. Your rest of the day will become better this way. This may be controversial. Well, every trick shared with you depends upon you to implement.
  • Use the 1–3–5 Rule. One most important work of the day, three medium importance and five least important works of the day can be used to sort your to-do list better.
