How to make a Fantastic Presentation in Canva?
Today, I got a job from my teacher. She asked me to prepare an MS Powerpoint presentation. Now, I decided to do something different. I decided to use Canva rather than Microsoft for that purpose.
Yes, you heard it right. We will make a PowerPoint presentation in Canva. There are two reasons for it-
- I don’t want to do it.
- I am not having MS Powerpoint installed on my Mac.
It will be a step-by-step guide to designing a fantastic presentation.
So, the topic given to me was: PORTAL HYPERTENSION
You needn’t be from medical school to understand it. Just look at the process.
RESEARCH🧐
When it comes to starting designing a presentation, start with the research.
The research includes reading and understanding the resources you have. Jumping right into the software(here it’s Canva) will not work. You will have to look back at the available resources again and again.
Make sure that the resources you gather the information are legit. It may influence the final results.
I read various books. Finally, I completed my research after looking at some research papers. I got all the necessary information required for this project.
OUTLINE🔳🔲
The next step would be designing the outer structure. It includes-
- page layout for individual page
- The base colour
- The pictures that resemble the base colour
- Any other element that you want to use
- Collect all the premium images whose license you have purchased.
PAGE LAYOUT📑
The page layout is an essential step in designing any presentation. You can decide the boundaries according to the content that you need to fill in it. Look at this presentation that I created-
I used the first one to show the main heading. The second is similar to the first one. The only difference is the side of the green border that creates a difference. The content in the green margin directs the direction of the slide. For example, a larger right-sided green shows the title. A small right-sided one shows the main content. A major difference will be in the third type of layout. I used the third to show the difference. The fourth is used to show the further sub-types.
So, your page layout should change according to the content. This will be always better than a presentation with a uniform layout.
This is one of the reason why you dislikes your professor’s presentation.
BASE COLOR🌈
Deciding the base colours is an essential stage in the development of a professional presentation. You should choose the base colours wisely. The colours can evoke the emotions. They can arose some specific feelings in the readers.
I chose the green as the base colour and the red colour to show the pathological knowledge. Here are some resources to choose the base colour-

Pictures are an important part of any presentation. It makes the presentation more effective and engaging. You can choose the pictures from various sources like-

Now, as you have gathered all the things you need to make the presentation. It’s time to make the presentation. Now, you have to just type the content and pictures as recommended.
Keep the presentation focused towards the audience. Like adding Johnny Seins in doctor photo in the presentation to gain the student’s attention in medical school. You may add the money images for the same purpose. They are sitting there for that purpose.
OTHER THINGS IN MARKET YOU SHOULD KNOW
- Prezi➚: Use it make presentation more effective than a simple MS Powerpoint, Keynote, Google Slides➚ etc. Presentations look like living videos in it. It’s a great tool that will help you to create great presentations. It’s not free.
2. Beautiful.ai➚: It is an automatic presentation builder. You can give it a try to make beautiful presentations in a short period of time.

I found Canva easier to work with than any other software. Unfortunately, you can’t download in .ppt format. You have to first download in .pdf and then you have to convert it into .ppt. Mac provides option itself. You can do it on Adobe’s website for free also.
