I tried all these ways to get into the Medium Partner Program in India…

It is going to be very valuable for all those people who are from countries where the Medium Partner Program is unavailable.

I am a medical student from KCGMC Medical College, India. I started writing on Medium. It was great fun. I began to write up to 15 articles per month. I reached 100 subscribers.

Now, as most of you have done. {100 subscribers = $$$} It was time for the Partner Program application. Then, I found out something.

The Medium Partner Program is available only in some countries. They are Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, and the United States.

It is not available in India. That was shocking for me. My whole work was in vain. I searched the Web for the solution.

I came to know about one method. It was in the following sequence:-

  1. Medium➚
  2. Stripe➚
  3. Payoneer➚- Please sign up through this link. It’s a referral only.
  4. Local Bank Account

I tried it. Unfortunately, it didn’t work. I got a rejection mail.

There was a great reason behind it. It was because we should read the privacy policy before browsing something. It was the first time when I realised the importance of reading the privacy policy.

I found something about Medium. It stores a lot of information about us. I am mentioning only the information which is related to this article.

Device and network you use, such as your hardware model, operating system version, mobile network, IP address, unique device identifiers, browser type, and app version. {From Medium Privacy Policy➚}.

I suggest reading it. So, I asked this thing for confirmation from the support team. They told me the same thing. I was outside the location where the medium partner program is not supported.

So, I tried VPN. It doesn’t work even. Well, probably because it stores a lot of information about me and my device. It can detect that the internet service provider that I am using isn’t available in the United States.

If you are a Tech Geek I would be very happy to know the probable reason. I tried some new things also like I tried to make fake excuses to the Medium team. But they had all the information beforehand. It is so surprising for me.

I just wanna write this article to make myself feel better. The medium didn’t give me money but its community is so sweet. The company and the people are two different things. Putin may be bad but the Russian people are good. It’s the love of the community that supports me in this situation.

The motivation to write anything comes from the beautiful and diverse community of Medium. It has taught me some great lessons-

  1. Read the privacy policy before signing up for anything.
  2. Don’t be too much hopeful as when hope breaks it hurts so badly. I have applied to the Medium Partner program at least 5 times. Unfortunately, I got failure every time. It hurts so badly.
  3. Money is not everything. Instagram reels taught me that money is everything. But the beautiful community taught me that money matters but there are other things also.

I think that the Medium wants to pay people from the rich part of the world. I don’t know the economics behind it. Probably, it’s because stripe has some business plans to grow in developed nations.

Whatever the reason will be, I think that it is an injustice to the writers who are born in developing countries. There may be some rounded way to get through it. But according to me, it is Medium’s responsibility to make its payment accessible across the globe at least in countries that don’t have economic boundaries. But anyway, thanks to the Medium family members. You were so sweet.

Did you find this article interesting? If yes, do you have a dollar by chance?
